Our recommended itinerary for first-time golf enthusiasts to Malaysia is a 9 Day/8 Night trip to Sarawak and Sabah which are the Malaysian states on the tropical island of Borneo. This itinerary mixes golf with various sightseeing activities to make it an ideal trip for not only golfers but also golfers with with non-golfing partners. The itinerary is described below:
Itinerary
Day 1
- Kuching International Airport City Hotel
- Upon arrival, meet and greet.
Transfer to City Hotel and overnight
Day 2
- Half day Kuching sightseeing (B)
- This is a comprehensive tour which will show you all the points of interest around this historical city. The highlights include the gigantic cat statue, which is the city’s mascot, the Chinese Tua Pek Kong temple (1876), a stop at the weekend market, the Cat and Sarawak Museums which are acknowledged as amongst the world’s finest. Pass by a Malay village and mosque, the old gambier spice street with its open air market. Stop at the Kuching waterfront where you can view buildings still in use today that were built during Rajah Brooke’s time such as the square tower, the old court house, Fort Margherita which is named after the second Rajah’s wife, and Astana, the former White Rajah residence.
Day 3
City hotel Borneo Highlands Golf Resort (B)
- Check out and transfer to Borneo Highlands Golf Resort
- Tee off 18 hole round of golf. Overnight
Day 4
- Borneo Highlands Golf Resort Damai Golf & Country Club City hotel (B)
- Check out and transfer to Damai Golf & Country Club
- 18 hole round of golf. Transfer to Kuching city hotel and overnight.
Day 5
- City Hotel - Kuching International Airport (B/L/D)
- Mulu Airport Royal Mulu Resort Mulu National Park
- Check out and transfer to Kuching International Airport for departure flight to Mulu.
Upon arrival at Mulu Airport, transfer to Royal Mulu Resort. In the afternoon you will be transferred to Mulu Park Headquarters to take the 3m plank walk to explore Lang and Deer Caves. Watch the bats fly, if weather permits, and return to the Park HQ and transfer back to your resort.
Day 6
- Mulu National Park Mulu Airport (B/PL)
- Kota Kinabalu International Airport City Hotel
- Morning, depart by longboat to explore Wind cave with a stopover at the Penan Longhouse. Later proceed to explore Clearwater cave. Swim and have picnic lunch before the transfer to Mulu airport. Upon arrival at Kota Kinabalu Intl apt, meet and greet.Transfer to city hotel and overnight
Day 7
Sutera Harbour Golf Club Half day Kota Kinabalu city tour (B)
- Morning tee off 18 hole round of golf .
- Afternoon, proceed for half day Kota Kinabalu city tour.
- Urban allure meets rural charm as you set off to discover Sabah, starting with a scenic drive through its capital, Kota Kinabalu (KK). The city, formerly known as “Singgahmata” or “the place where the eye lingers”, has risen from the destruction of the last world war to become a vibrant and modern city that still retains its traditional charms. See its many places of interests such as the Wisma Tun Mustapha (Sabah Foundation Building), pottery factory, University Malaysia Sabah, its state and city mosque, a Chinese temple and Sabah Museum* for the historical and cultural aspects of the indigenous people. Enjoy a brief stop along Signal Hill for a spectacular bird’s eye view of KK and the nearby islands, plus a chance to shop at a handicraft market.

Day 8
City hotel Kinabalu Park Kudat Golf & Marina Resort (B)
- A ride that traverses the Crocker Range with panoramic views of the surrounding hills ends at the Kinabalu Park, the focal point of which is Mt. Kinabalu, South East Asia’s highest peak. This nature-lover’s retreat is home to a wide range of unspoilt flora and fauna. The Park is located at 1,600 metres above sea level with soothing temperatures. A guided nature walk along one of the various graded trails and a visit to the Mt Garden are scheduled. Proceed on to Kudat Golf & Marina Resort and overnight
Day 9
- Kudat Golf & Marina Resort Kota Kinabalu International Airport (B)
- Morning tee off 18 hole round of golf. Transfer to Kota Kinabalu International Airport for departure flight
